This work recounts the author's travels through Central America and his recollections of California in the 1860's. Includes descriptions of the Tuolumne River flood of 1861, the mining camps (where the author spent some of his youth), the Chinese, vigilante activities at Yreka in 1894. Contains some material on Joaquin Murieta and Three-Fingered Jack Garcia. Lydston claims his father was a member of a posse that chased Murieta. Not in Cowan. Six Guns 1374.
