(c.1920). Large format. Silver gelatin photo [20 cm x 33 cm] / [8" x 13"] signed in pencil at the lower left of the mount, title in pencil at the lower right of the mount. Nicely matted and framed [29 cm x 39 cm] / [11.5" x 15.5"] Nice contrasts. Lengthy descriptive manuscript note in ink on the back of the frame. This has not been examined out of the frame. Wegemann (1879-1952) started working for the United States Geological Survey (USGS) as a geologist in 1907. He eventually worked for the National Park Service. While working for the USGS he made important scientific discoveries and contributed to geological sciences by authoring various papers, pamphlets, and other types of publications. His career as a regional and petroleum geologist gave him opportunities to travel domestically and internationally. He participated extensive geological studies in Utah, Colorado, Wyoming and the greater Intermountain West. Wegemann photographs are rare.
