An Apostle's Record: The Journals of Abraham H. Cannon

Clearfield, UT: Gnolaum Books, 2004. First Edition. 504pp. Octavo [23.5 cm] Black cloth with the title gilt on the front board and backstrip. Near fine/Near fine. Item #7002

Abraham Hoagland Cannon (1859-1896) lived his life in the shadow of his father, the prominent politician businessman, and LDS Church First Presidency member George Q. Cannon (1827-1901). Abraham died fairly young and spent his entire Apostolic tenure as the junior member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. For these and other reasons he is almost unknown in the LDS Church today. Perhaps the single most important thing he did in his life - after his Apostolic ministry - was to keep a marvelously complete and detailed journal. It is this journal that brings him out of historical obscurity and grants us the precious record of an Apostle who witnessed Church history in the making.
