"Of the making of commonplace books there seems to be no end. Many years ago Robert Grabhorn showed me Monroe Wheeler's Typographical Commonplace Book, published by Harrison or Paris in 1932, and I have never recovered. Witness this fifth Commonplace Book from the Grace Hoper Press. In acknowledging my weakness, I must point to the extenuating circumstance that James D. Hammond waved a check in front of my eyes and said 'Let's do another Commonplace Book.' There is no pattern to the selections here nor in the order of their arrangement. The only condition we abided by was that we should agree about a quotation's inclusion or exclusion. Actually there were four OKs, rather than two, since Blodwen Hammond and Katherine Grover had some voice." - from the Printer's Note.
