George Wharton James (1858-1923) was an author, lecturer and photographer who made his home in Pasadena and was active in the late 19th century and early 20th century. He was a member of the Arroyo community known for his studies on Native Americans, James was a prolific author who penned more than forty books including the classic guide: 'Grand Canyon of Arizona.'.
