Image of Shoshone Falls on the Snake River, Shoshone Falls, widely known as the 'Niagara of the West,' is a spectacular natural wonder standing 212 feet tall and 900 feet wide along the Snake River Canyon. Located roughly 3 miles northeast of Twin Falls, Idaho. The geological marvel was carved over 14,000 years ago during the historic Bonneville Flood. Charles Weitfle (1836–1921) was a highly prolific 19th-century German-American photographer best known for his extensive documentation of the American West, particularly through stereoviews and cabinet cards of Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming.
