Lovely copy of this classic work that was first published in 1653. This work celebrates the art, spirit, and tranquility of angling. Structured as a dialogue between a fisherman (Piscator) and his pupil (Viator), it combines practical advice on catching fish with philosophical reflections on nature, country life, and simple pleasures. James Henry Thorpe (1876-1949) was a founding member of the London Sketch Club. Besides working as an illustrator he also wrote on contemporary art.
