Copy of the 28th title in the Rivers of America series. Illustrated by W.K Fisher. The Salinas River is the longest river on the Central Coast of California, stretching approximately 175 miles from its headwaters in the Los Padres National Forest to its mouth at Monterey Bay. It is famously dubbed the 'upside-down river' because for much of the year, it appears dry on the surface while water continues to flow through a massive underground aquifer of sand and gravel.
