Stanton Macdonald-Wright (1890–1973) was a pioneering American modernist painter and a key co-founder of Synchromism, the first American avant-garde art movement to achieve international recognition. During the Great Depression, he served as a director for the Southern California division of the WPA. He designed notable murals for the Santa Monica City Hall and Public Library.
