History of this agricultural outpost in the Northeastern portion of Cache Valley, that was originally established in 1864, a product of Brigham Young’s encouragement for settlers to establish settlements to the west of the Bear River. Clarkston is also known as the last residence and grave of Martin Harris.
Ann Godfrey Hansen (1900-1991) was born in Clarkston, Utah. After graduating from Brigham Young College in 1919, She taught school in Logan, and the West Side School District in Dayton, Idaho, before continuing her education by earning a B.A. in 1958 and an M.S. in 1961. A prolific writer, Ann wrote extensively about her family history and that of Clarkston, culminating with the book, Wood Stoves and Woolen Stockings, published in 1991. Rare title we locate no institutional copies.
