Warmly inscribed at length by the author on the front free endsheet. The celebrated historian's first published book is a love letter to his home in Southwestern Colorado, that documents his time among the cattlemen and other rugged individuals that inhabited Telluride in the 1930s. The easy conversational style of the work made it a hit among the reading public and was the beginning of a decades long career. David Sievert Lavender (1910-2003) was the author of more than forty books and was twice nominated for the Pulitzer Prize. He received numerous awards for his work, including awards from American Heritage and the Western Writers of America.
