This volume includes a significant series of maps and charts, including 16 from the General Land Office, 13 from the Bureau of Topographical Engineers, and two illustrating the report of Elisha Kent Kane on his expedition to the arctic, etc. There is a large 'Map of Public Surveys in California,' the Territory of Oregon west of the Cascade Mountains, Washington, New Mexico, Kansas and Nebraska, several of Florida, surveys of harbors, etc. Also, 'Map showing the different routes traveled over by the detachments of the overland command, in the spring of 1855, from Salt Lake City to the Bay of San Francisco.'
