George Fiske (1835-1918) worked for Charles Weed, Carleton Watkins, and Thomas Houseworth at different times before opening his own studio in Yosemite Valley in 1879, becoming the first year-round photographer in the Park. Fiske was close friends with Galen Clark, Yosemite's first 'Guardian,' and spent many years photographing the Park and its residents and visitors.
